Highly Anticipated Series About 70’s Stand Up Comedy Scene Has a Trailer and Start Date

It’s a drama, but its about comedy and Showtime’s I’m Dying Up Here is one of our most highly anticipated series of 2017.  Yesterday at the TCA Winter Tour, Showtime announced that the series will premiere on Sunday June 4, at 10pm and head up a summer lineup that will include season two of DICE starring Andrew Dice Clay (one of our top ten comedy series of 2016!) and the final season of EPISODES.

The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc.

Showtime also released the first trailer for I’m Dying Up Here. The hour long drama series is produced by Jim Carrey, and set in the infamous and groundbreaking L.A. stand-up comedy scene of the ’70s.  Melissa Leo stars as the fictional club owner (assumed to be modeled after the revered and feared Mitzy Shore), with Clark Duke, Michael Angarano, Andrew Santino, RJ Cyler, Erik Griffin and Stephen Guarino filling out the cast. Al Madrigal, Cathy Moriarty and Jon Daly will make guest star appearances.

Will it be Vinyl for comedy fans or an instant classic? Start the countdown to June 4.
