HBO Releases Trailer of Bill Hader as a Hit Man Who Just Wants to Act

This weekend HBO released the trailer for Barry, a dark comedy starring Bill Hader. Hader plays a depressed midwestern hitman who wants to go Hollywood after getting bit by the acting bug while on hit job in Los Angeles.

It all begins when his handler hires him out to an LA mob, where he’s expected to hit an aspiring actor having an affair with a mobsters wife. After Barry follows his target into an acting class he is instantly drawn to the students, the teacher (played by Henry Winkler) and wants to start over. Unfortunately, his past isn’t ready to let him go.

As well as starring in the series, Hader directs episodes of the show, marking his directorial debut. BARRY is executive produced by Alec Berg and Bill Hader; produced by Aida Rodgers. Cast regulars include Stephen Root (HBO’s “All the Way”), Sarah Goldberg (“Hindsight”), Glenn Fleshler (HBO’s “True Detective”), Anthony Carrigan (“Gotham”) and Henry Winkler (“Arrested Development”).

Looking at the trailer, it’s hard to think of Hader as a hitman, but the series looks promising anyway.

Barry debuts Sunday, March 25 at 10:30PM on HBO.
