“Why? With Hannibal Buress” Gets the Greenlight

Hannibal Buress is entering the Late Night ring with his own show. “Why? With Hannibal Buress” has been picked up by Comedy Central for eight half hour episodes which will air weekly starting in July.
The show will celebrate Buress’ point-of-view with Hannibal addressing each week’s topic through stand up, filmed segments, man-on-the-street interviews and special in-studio guests, all in front of a studio audience. Comedy Central says, if it’s in the zeitgeist, Buress will address it. “I’m extremely excited to help Comedy Central sell advertising,” said Buress.
The show is executive produced by Buress, Jeff Stilson (“The Chris Rock Show” and “Da Ali G Show”) and Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment.
Just a few months ago, Buress changed the face of comedy when his stand-up line brought allegations against Bill Cosby to the attention of mainstream America, and nobody has looked at Cosby the same way since. His 2014 one-hour stand-up special “Hannibal Buress Live from Chicago” was a favorite with critics and fans. He’s also an Emmy and WGA Award-nominated comedian, writer and actor. He’s a regular on “Broad City”, co-hosts “The Eric Andre Show” and has had roles on some of our favorite tv shows including “Louie”, “Bob’s Burgers”, “Kroll Show” and had parts in “Neighbors”, and the upcoming Will Ferrell movie, “Daddy’s Home,” and he’s also written for “SNL” and “30 Rock.”
Stay tuned for info on a start date some time in July.
