Half of America is Considered a Disaster
Farmers are getting hit hard by the drought going on around the country, as 220 counties have been added to the government’s list of natural disaster areas. That brings the total to 1,584 counties in 32 states. The Agriculture Secretary is trying to stop the bleeding by paying farmers to actually take parts of their land out of production. In Illinois alone, 71% of the corn crop is being considered nearly useless. Why won’t the Gods just give us a little rain? If we don’t have corn, we can’t make delicious High Fructose Corn Syrup.
