Garry Shandling Goes Through a Woman’s Purse in Exclusive Crowd Work Clip From Zen Diaries Bonus Material (Watch it Here!)

Just two years after the devastating news came that pioneer and comedic genius Garry Shandling passed away in 2016, Judd Apatow released a brilliant HBO documentary: “The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling.” The four hour plus masterpiece looked at the life, career, and inner thoughts of a comedy legend. Both heartbreaking and hilarious, any serious comedy fan needs to watch Apatow’s labor of love.
Starting tomorrow you’ll be able to own the full series on digital, and believe it or not, even after four hours of previously released content, now there’s even more being released along with the doc. A DVD release will follow later this year.
We’re excited to premiere an exclusive, never-before-seen clip from the bonus content featured on the upcoming digital release. In the clip, watch Garry in a rare crowd-working scene during a taped live stand-up performance. Shandling looks through a fan’s purse and makes hilarious commentary on everything from sex toys to men’s behavior to driving habits of the sexes and more. This brand new clip is just a small excerpt pulled from an extended scene included in the set’s bonus features. Judd Apatow hand selected all of the bonus clips from hundreds of hours found footage of his longtime friend and mentor Garry Shandling.
There’s plenty more bonus material with the Digital Download set, on sale tomorrow. There’s also extended interviews with Jim Carrey and spiritual leader Ram Dass, EXCLUSIVE archival stand-up performances, a previously un-aired conversation with Jeff Goldblum, never-before-seen and extended conversation with Garry and Jerry Seinfeld, as well as a tribute performance of “Dear Mind” by Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and Judd Apatow, live from the Bonnaroo festival in 2016.
