Five Questions With Joe List, One of New York’s Funniest Finalists
This Saturday, as part of the New York Comedy Festival, Caroline’s on Broadway will hold their annual New York’s Funniest contest. The yearly competition searches among New York City’s younger comics, to find who is New York’s funniest.
We asked New York’s funniest finalist Joe List five questions about comedy and living in New York. You can follow him on twitter @JoeListComedy and see him this Saturday at Carolines at 4pm. He’ll also be performing Saturday Night at the Creek and the Cave’s Hard, Lonely and Vicious at 8pm and on the Sam and Joe Show Sunday night at Carolines on Broadway at 10pm.

The IBang: What was the hardest adjustment to make when you first came to New York.
Joe List: The hardest adjustment I had to make was nobody cared about me here. In Boston I was somebody and here I was nobody. I’m still adjusting to it.
The IBang: Where’s the best place to grab a slice of pizza.
Joe List: I like Lombardis. Well they don’t sell by the slice but Lombardi’s is my favorite pizza. I go to Ben’s Pizzeria right next to the Comedy Cellar a lot.
The IBang: What is your biggest celebrity sighting since you’ve moved here.
Joe List: My biggest celebrity sighting happened, today, I saw Jimmy Page at SiriusXM. That’s definitely number one. I once saw Estelle Harris, George Costanza’s mother. That meant a lot to me, I loved that show. She’s 89 years old and I hit on her.
The IBang: What’s the best lesser known comedy venue in New York?
Joe List: Whiplash– it’s always sold out. Whiplash at UCB on Mondays is amazing. Hot Soup at the Irish Exit on Tuesday nights is a great show, There’s always great comics on it, and it’s always full and its a fun kind of bar atmosphere.
The IBang: Who is the funniest underrated NY comedian?
Joe List: Matt Wayne. I love Matt Wayne. He’s absolutely hilarious. I feel like he doesn’t get booked a lot at clubs but he should and he will soon because he’s one of the funniest guys I know.
