Fahim Anwar Wants to Be the James Cameron of Stand Up Comedy: Be the First to See a Brand New Trailer and Behind the Scenes Clip
Continuing to innovate, Seeso has released a trailer and a behind-the-scenes clip for a brand new special hailing from Fahim Anwar, and we’re excited to premiere both here.
Fahim Anwar’s first hour-long, “There’s No Business like Show Business” attributes his joke writing to the comedian’s identity and story; he left a job as an engineer at Boeing to pursue stand-up comedy. The special also covers a Disney audition gone wrong, tackles the issue of Islamophobia, argues why rap music has gone soft, and displays some of the “smartest stupid” material with moments of poignancy to ever grace the stage. The trailer covers a joke about how being a minority is like wearing a jersey for a rival team you can never take off. It’s solid observational comedy, but the “behind-the-scenes” video really sets the stage for what Fahim is aiming for with his first special.
But the tone Anwar is looking to set in his new special really comes through in the mockumentary-style behind-the-scenes video Seeso released. Anwar totes the genius of becoming the first-ever stand-up to shoot a special wearing “CGI clothes” so that his outfit can continuously be updated as fashion evolves. He explains that this way he can focus purely on the comedy side of his performance without being distracted by his appearance, even if the technology prevents him from moving his arms too much and takes about 5 hours to apply. A slightly apathetic, confused animator confirms this process; he was hired because he didn’t ask too many questions and while he won’t directly say whether he’s proud of his work, “it’s what he (Fahim) wanted”.
Fahim Anwar’s “There’s No Business Like Show Business” debuts on Seeso on March 9.
