The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were presented Monday evening with Seth Meyers hosting. Here’s who walked away winners with Emmys in the comedy categories.

The first comedy award of the night was Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. It was presented by Amy Poehler who was introduced by Seth Meyers as “Beyonce”. The Emmy went to Ty Burrell from Modern Family who accepted by reading a speech prepared for him by the already jaded kid actors from the show’s cast. Other actors nominated in this category included Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Adam Driver (Girls), Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Tony Hale (Veep) and Modern Family cast member Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Louie CK picked up his 6th Emmy award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Louie and the episode entitled “So Did The Fat Lady”. Louie kept his acceptance speech short, thanking Sarah Baker who co-starred with Louie in the episode as an overweight comedy club waitress interested in Louie. He also thanked comedian Bobby Kelly who also appeared in the “Fat Lady” episode along with Pamela Adlon, producer Vernon Chatman and Ron Lynch who gave him his first job as a comedian and Conan O’Brien who gave Louie his first job on television.

The Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy went to Allison Janney for Mom. It was her 6th Emmy win. She won over Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory), Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Kate Mulgrew (Orange Is The New Black), Anna Chumsky (Veep) and Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live). This award was presented by Jimmy Kimmel who attacked Matthew McConaughey for showing up for an Emmy Award just months after winning an Oscar. He explained that the country is tired of hearing McConaughey’s acceptance speeches and he had no business being there. Jimmy also gave a shout out to Tracy Morgan who is recovering from a serious car accident in June.

Gail Mancuso pulled off a repeat, winning the Best Director in a Comedy Series for the second year in a row for Modern Family for the “Las Vegas” episode.

The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons won his 4th Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy for playing Dr. Sheldon Cooper. He had huge competition in this category from Louis CK, Ricky Gervais, Don Cheadle, William H. Macy and Matt LeBlanc.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus not only got her 3rd consecutive Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Veep, but she also got a make-out session on live TV with Bryan Cranston. Louis-Dreyfus and Cranston had presented together earlier in the night and she claimed not to remember him as Dr. Todd Whatley, the dentist from “Seinfeld”. The deep kiss jogged her memory.

Sarah Silverman won for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Show or Special for her “Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles”. She was presented the Emmy by Ricky Gervais who was still disappointed for losing the Best Actor Emmy to Jim Parsons. He proceeded to read his acceptance speech any way which included “Look at their stupid faces” referring to his fellow nominees.

Stephen Colbert went out a winner with The Colbert Report which won Best Variety Series. The Colbert Report topped other nominees, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Real Time with Bill Maher, Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. It was Fallon who first gave the acceptance speech for The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert whispering in his ear.

At one point during the ceremony, host Seth Meyers opened the Emmy Awards up for questions from the audience. Questions came from several celebrities including Jon Hamm, Fred Armisen and Melissa McCarthy who had a question about parking.

The final comedy award of the night was for Best Comedy Series. For the 5th consecutive year, the Emmy went to ABC’s Modern Family. The sitcom beat out annual nominee “The Big Bang Theory”, Louie CK’s “Louie”, newcomer series “Silicon Valley”, Netflix’s “Orange Is The New Black” and HBO’s “Veep”.
