Eddie Izzard announces his return to the U.S. with tour dates for his Eddie Izzard: Wunderbar international tour, and it may be his last dates in North America for a bit, so if he’s coming to your city, grab tickets fast.
It’s been five years since Izzard’s last world tour Force Majeure made comedy history by playing 45 countries, all 50 of the United States with performances in four languages, making it the most extensive comedy show ever. Now with Wunderbar, Eddie is back to his roots with an all-new show which expands on his own very unique, totally surreal view of life, love, history and his ‘theory of the universe.’ An insight into the surreal and fantastical world of Eddie Izzard, Wunderbar is intelligent Bunkum of the highest order. The tour began in Paris, where Izzard started improvising his new show in French on a floating theater on the Seine, then moved on to Berlin where it was performed in German, and now Izzard has developed the English counterpart to bring to the U.S.
“It is getting close to the time when I have to go off for a while to have a political life,” Izzard said in a statement. “But before I do that, I want to keep giving audiences around the world the best stand-up comedy shows that I can – especially at a time of Brexit-hate and Trump-hate. My new show is about everything from humans over the last 100,000 years to talking dogs and animal superheroes. I am looking forward to coming to see everyone again.”
Eddie Izzard is one of the World’s most greatest and most respected comedians. He’s absolutely brilliant and tireless with record breaking tours all over the world, and a bestselling book, Believe Me, that recounts his extraordinary childhood, development, career, and advocacy for a better planet. A creative and tireless chameleon, Izzard has conquered street performing, the stand up stage, theater, film, television, sports, politics, the written word- and excelling at everything he does. As a self-proclaimed “action transvestite,” Izzard broke a mold performing in makeup and heels, and has become as famous for his “total clothing” rights as he has for his art.
Izzard kicks off the United States leg of his tour on May 8, 2019 in Nashville and will tour 27 U.S. cities ending up in Seattle on July 13th. In between, he’ll hit up Memphis, Atlanta, Raleigh, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., New York, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Denver, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Portland.
