Don Lemon’s Powerful Discussion Has Kevin Hart Talking About Growth

Looks like the Kevin Hart story is not over yet. The possibility of him hosting the Oscars isn’t over, and the controversy over his past homophobic remarks and recent responses, is not over.

Thursday The Ellen Show released clips of Ellen’s interview with Hart, and Ellen’s defense of Hart has elicited strong responses, condemning Hart, condemning homophobia and even condemning Ellen. There were also reactions supportive of Hart and Degeneres. But the most powerful reaction came from CNN’s Don Lemon on Friday night. Lemon neither condemned nor supported either comedian, but rather issued a powerful message to communities shedding light on the problems that LGBTQ’s of color face, and the way in which even casual comments have amplified their hardships. Don called the issue a matter of life and death and his words are resonating with many, including, it seems, Hart.

Hart reacted on Instagram on Saturday with an abstract and somewhat cryptic message of Growth. While the message seems to be a positive one, its a bit flat particularly in contrast to Lemon’s heartfelt message of kids in need of help.

“When did we get to the point where we forgot that we all learn, then we all have the ability to grow and with that growth comes a wealth of knowledge,” Hart wrote.  “You can’t change without a understanding of what GROWTH means. #Message #LiveLoveLaugh #HappySaturday …..Please grasp this and use it in 2019.”

You too.
