David Letterman Remembers Robin Williams

The Late Show was off last week, but when David returned least night, he shared his memories of the late great Robin Williams.
Dave knew Williams for 38 years. They came up together at the Comedy Store with Jay Leno, Jimmie Walker, Elayne Boosler and others back when they would work for free drinks and hope to get on The Tonight Show. Dave remembered the first night he heard of Williams– they were all young comics and Williams was introduced as a new comedian from Scotland. He came on like a hurricane and blew everyone out of the water from night one. It wasn’t until later when Dave was doing Late Night with David Letterman on NBC that Dave actually got to know Robin, and it was during those years that Robin was kind enough to invite Dave to appear on Mork and Mindy. Williams would later appear on Dave’s shows a total of 50 times.
