Dave Chappelle Attended Memorial Services for Senator McCain

While Pete Davidson was accompanying his girlfriend Ariana Grande to perform at a memorial for Aretha Franklin in Detroit, Dave Chappelle was in the US Capitol attending memorial services for Senator John McCain. News cameras captured this footage of the comedy star walking through the Capitol Rotunda where McCain’s flag-draped casket was on display.  Dave told TMZ he came to pay his respects because “in this divisive times now, I like that he’s become a symbol of national unity.” He also lamented that the two memorials were on the same day and expressed his wishes that he could have attended services for both Franklin and McCain.

Chappelle has always set standards in political activism- both on and off stage, and gave a memorable monologue on Saturday Night Live immediately after Trump was elected.
