Dark Comedy Fargo Earns 5 Critics Choice Nominations


The Broadcast Television Journalists Association announced nominations for the 4th annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards. This is the first awards ceremony that the new FX series Fargo has been eligible for, and the dark comedy grabbed a well deserved five nominations in the mini series categories, including best mini series, two best actor nominations for stars Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman, and two more for supporting performers Alison Tolman and Colin Hanks.
Orange is the New Black received four nominations. VEEP, Silicon Valley, and Louie are up 3 awards each. Veep, Julia Louis Dreyfus and Tony Hale all picked up nominations. New HBO series Silicon Valley grabbed noms for Best Comedy Series, as well as one each for Thomas Middleditch and Christopher Evan Welch. Louie’s 3 nominations include Best Comedy Series, Best Actor in a Comedy Series, and Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series (for Sarah Baker, who plays the “fat girl”).
Amy Schumer got a nomination for best actress in a comedy series, and both Amy Poehler and Adam Scott received nominations for their roles in Parks and Recreation, and Andre Braugher is the sole memeber of Brooklyn Nine-Nine to make the list.
