Yes we were late on this news, but we couldn’t be more excited.  Our own Interrobang contributing writer Dan Perlman got an order for a pilot presentation from Fox for his animated series, That’s My Bus, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Perlman’s series, which is co-created with Will Julian, centers on the life of a bus driver, Bill Russell. IMDB describes the series as about “an eccentric husband and father, Bill Russell, blissfully in his own world, struggles to balance family with his life’s work and his true passion: driving a city bus.”

The series claimed the award for best half hour pitch at the New York Television Festival last fall, and Perlman and Julian were up at Just for Laughs Montreal last summer with the project, and took first place in the JFL Set to Screen contest.

Young comics dream of winning awards that could potentially lead to digital series or pick ups on smaller platforms, but Perlman and Julian could be looking at a spot on Fox alongside animation legends like The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers. Tom Brady serves as showrunner for the series.

Dan Perlman performs regularly all over New York City and co-hosts a monthly storytelling show, Hindsight, at Carolines on Broadway with comedian Billy Prinsell.  He also writes and stars in his own webseries, Moderately Funny, was a contributing producer for SiriusXM comedy radio show Bennington, and has been a contributor for The Interrobang, where he has a column on his experiences as a young comedian.
