Daily Show Announces New Correspondents

new correspondents daily show

One day after Trevor Noah released a new Daily Show promo assuring his team that nothing is changing, Comedy Central has announced some exciting changes happening. Three new correspondents have been selected to join the Best F**king News Team Ever. Ronny Chieng, Desi Lydic and Roy Wood Jr.

Improv artist and comedic actress Desi Lydic is Jersey born, Nashville raised and Los Angeles trained. She studied with The Groundlings and Improv Olympic and starred on MTV’s hit comedy series Awkward before joining the Daily Show team and also starred in Cameron Crowe’s We Bought A Zoo opposite Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson and The Babymakers directed by Jay Chandrasekhar.  And it doesn’t hurt that she looks stunning in a red dress.  Can’t say that about Trevor Noah.

International rising comedy star Ronny Chieng was born in Malaysia, raised in New Hampshire and Singapore and has been a big hit on the Australian comedy scene while attending and graduating law school. Chieng was named one of the “Top 10 Rising Comedians in Australia” by The Age, the Herald Sun and The Sydney Morning Herald and received the “Best Newcomer” award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for his debut stand-up special, “The Ron Way.” Ronny opened for both Dave Chappelle (2014) and Bill Burr (2015) during their nationwide stand-up tours in Australia and earlier this year Chieng made his US television debut on “The Late Late Show.”

Alabama native Roy Wood Jr. started performing comedy in Florida when he was just 19. He has been called “A Standout” by The Hollywood Reporter. In 2006, he appeared in the “New Faces Showcase” at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and made his network television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman the same year. Wood most recently starred on Sullivan and Son and regularly appears on Conan, ESPN’s SportsNation, and @midnight. He has appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and finished third in the 2010 season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Our own Jeffrey Gurian talked to Roy back in March when he was cast in Jermaine Fowler’s pilot, Dolores and Jermaine, as Fowler’s father alongside Whoopi Goldberg. Unfortunately the pilot didn’t get picked up but we’re thrilled to see Roy joining the Comedy Central team.

Jordan Klepper, Hasan Minhaj, Jessica Williams, Lewis Black, John Hodgman, Al Madrigal, Aasif Mandvi and Kristen Schaal To Remain with The Daily Show.

The new Daily Show with host Trevor Noah and a newly expanded correspondents team debuts September 28th.
