Cinema Sins: Controversial Movie Posters Too Dangerous To Release

With recent posters for ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ getting banned due to Eva Green’s nipples and Terry Gilliam’s ‘The Zero Theorem’ getting blocked because of Christoph Waltz bare space butt, the MPAA is still not afraid to put the kibosh on a risque film poster. Here are some controversial movie posters, some of which are obviously taking it too far, and some that will leave you scratching your head.

The Last Exorcism (2010)

You would have thought movies based on exorcisms would have gone out of style after the infamous film ‘The Exorcist’ in 1973, but 2010’s ‘The Last Exorcism’ tried to wring whatever horror was left in the genre as a girl gets overtaken by the devil. Audiences may have had a hard time finding out about the film after the poster that featured the lead character in a twisted, demonic position was banned. Complaints about the blood on her dress implying sexual assault led to the poster being banned, which once again brought up the age old question of which is worse: demonic possession or sexual assault?
