Comedy Central Cancels Late Night Series

“The Opposition with Jordan Klepper” never really took off for Comedy Central, so after one season, they’re canceling it. The series will cease production after its June 28th episode. When he first announced the show on Trevor Noah’s “Daily Show” he said the series would have two goals- to “expose the greedy globalists who chase power and money” and  “I also want to get more Twitter followers and build my brand.” Mission accomplished.

Despite the quick cancel, the network is still betting on the former Daily Show correspondent, planning to launch a new once-weekly half hour series that will air in 2019.

“We are excited to announce Klepper, a new, primetime weekly series created by and starring Jordan Klepper,” the network said in a statement. “The new series will premiere in early 2019 with production beginning in July. ”

Although Klepper said he was thrilled with his team at The Opposition, he’s looking forward to the new series, and announced a shift in his character’s persona.  “Moving forward, I will be leaving The Opposition’s paranoid Jordan Klepper character behind. I figured maybe, right now, the world could use one less asshole. This new Jordan Klepper guy I know intimately cause I’ve been him for the better part of my life. He’s eager to get into the field, talk to real America and make a kickass television show.”
