Comedy Central Announces SXSW Events With Big Jay Oakerson, Ari Shaffir Plus Kegs and Eggs Is Back
Comedy Central is returning to the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas this March. Part of the comedy showcase will be two special events at Esther’s Follies on Tuesday, March 17th hosted by Big Jay Oakerson and Ari Shaffir.
Big Jay’s What’s Your F@!?#ng Deal show will be at Esther’s Follies on St. Patrick’s Day at 8pm. The show features Big Jay Oakerson doing his crowd work, which was the subject of his recently released comedy album, “The Crowd Work Sessions: What’s Your F@!?#ng Deal?!” which the Interrobang readers named their favorite comedy album release of 2014.
Following Big Jay Oakerson’s show at Esther’s Follies will be This is Not Happening hosted by Ari Shaffir at 10pm. Ari’s bringing the stage version of his show which can be seen on Comedy Central on Thursdays at 12:30am et, to SXSW. Ari and his yet-to-be announced guests will share true stories from their lives. The real life experiences are usually embarrassing stories that these comedians thought they would never speak of again, never mind in public.
Both these shows at Esther’s Follies are free for SXSW badge holders.
Another free event from Comedy Central which is open to the public at SXSW, is Kegs and Eggs at Pelons/508 Tequila Bar. This event is back for a second year and is being expanded to two days. It’s an interactive Comedy Central breakfast event where fans can enjoy breakfast tacos and beer. The breakfast of comedy champions. The Drunk History dunking booth will be on hand where people can get dunked themselves or try to knock different historical figures into beer. The Comedy Central GIF photo booth will be available featuring shows like Workaholics. And there will be a chance to win Comedy Central tchotchkes including Broad Fucking City shirts, Key & Peele headphones and more.
