Comedians Will Live Stream “Voter” Telethon on November 5

A telethon aimed at increasing voter turnout will stream live on election eve- November 5th, with the participation of plenty of celebrity activists. A big percentage of those celebrities hail from the comedy world. Amy Schumer, Jim Jefferies, Judd Apatow, new Mark Twain award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lil Rel, Chelsea Handler, Adam Devine, Ben Gleib, Whitney Cummings, Russell Peters, Jeff Ross, Tom Arnold, Erik Griffin, Lilly Singh, Wyatt Cenac, Natasha Leggero, Tone Bell, Iliza Shlesinger, Rory Scovel, and Brad Williams will be among the comedy A-listers trying to convince you to show up at the polls. They’ll be participating through comedy performances both live and taped, urging “Tonight we laugh. Tomorrow we vote.”

You’ll be able to catch it on YouTube, Facebook Live, Comedy Central Online and a bunch of social media locations. The two hour event is slated for 9pm to 11pm Eastern time.

The event is said to be non-partisan, although plenty of the participants have openly opposed the current administration.

The Telethon For America was created by comedian and game show host Ben Gleib. Instead of raising money, they’re asking viewers to pledge to show up at the polls on November 6 for this year’s midterm election. “The Telethon For America flips the traditional telethon on its head,” Gleib said in a statement. “Young Americans are more motivated than ever before and the Telethon For America is working to build on that momentum to make sure an even higher percentage of young people get out and vote. We are excited to reach them in a brand new way.”
