Co-Star Says Big CBS Sitcom is Cancelled After 6 Seasons

Rondi Reed who co-stars in the popular CBS Sitcom Mike and Molly posted on her Facebook page this week that the series has been cancelled. “Before you hear it elsewhere (and some already have),” she said, “this is the Final and 6th Season of MIKE & MOLLY on CBS.” She added “It is also a shortened season (13 episodes) after the announced full renewal of 22 episodes back in March by the network. We are done taping as of January 27th 2016 and I am not sure exactly when/if the episodes will all be aired.”

Reed alludes to some controversial reasoning behind the decision to end the series which stars Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardel, but doesn’t reveal what those reasons are. She also says that moving the series to another network had been explored but did not result in a new home for the show. “It is a fact and we have known for a few weeks.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Melissa McCarthy was in her final contract year of the show.

Season Six begins airing on January 12.
