Chris Rock Working On “Top Five” Follow Up
With Chris Rock’s latest film, “Top Five”, now available on multiple platforms, he intends on staying in movie making mode. Chris talked to Complex about already working on a new movie in the same vein as “Top Five”. He said that EGOT winning producer Scott Rudin who worked with him on “Top Five” wants him to get the next one out quickly. Chris said, “We meet every week now going over this next movie. So yeah, he wants me to work at a faster pace. I can, I guess. I like doing movies. I’m doing another one soon with a lot of the same cast.”
As for who that “same cast” refers to, Chris Rock named names. He said, “Some people shine in Top Five. You might want to see a little more of Leslie Jones or Tracy [Morgan], once he gets better. I think Jerry Seinfeld showed us some things we haven’t seen.”
Despite having starred in movies like “Head of State” and “I Think I Love My Wife”, plus his films with Adam Sandler, the “Madagascar” cartoons and his breakout role in 1991’s “New Jack City”, Chris Rock says that he sees “Top Five” as his start in film. He said, “I looked at Top 5 as the beginning of my movie career.”
Even though Chris is focused on movies right now and has no current plans for another comedy special, he said there is more stand up in his future, saying, “You might see me at a comedy club this summer.” We’ll be looking for him.
