Chris Rock Will Host the 2016 Academy Awards
Yesterday the news was leaked that Chris Rock would be hosting the Oscars this coming February, but without verification, the news flew around the web that Chris Rock was in talks to host the Academy Awards, but the initial reports have proven to be correct. Chris Rock announced on his twitter today that he will host the Oscars.
The news was confirmed by the Academy this morning. “Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry,” producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin said in statement released this morning. “Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian – he’s done it all. He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!”
This will be Rock’s second time hosting the awards show, he also hosted in 2005. Having Rock serve as host will be a dramatic departure from Neil Patrick Harris’ widely panned efforts in 2015.
