Chris Pine Tried Stand Up– It Was Terrifying
Chris Pine, best known as the new updated James T. Kirk, told Jimmy Kimmel he tried stand up comedy once. Monday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Pine told the host that it was years ago when he made his one and only attempt at stand up at the Williamstown Theater Festival. Lewis Black was the comedian in residence at the time, and gave a class on stand up to the performers, which of course, included Pine himself. Pine told Kimmel he had to perform a 5 minute set in front of the other students and said it was the closest he’s ever come to feeling naked on stage.
In his set, Pine talked about “what your parents make you do when you don’t want to do it”- in his case- his father laughing at him from the porch when his mom dragged him to Sunday School. He also had a bit about only being allowed to shower every third day at summer camp, and being forced to use a garden hose to shower. He said they slept outside at this “camp” and killed squirrels. Don’t know how he did in front of the class but he didn’t get a huge amount of laughs from the JKL audience more horrified gasps. Good choice sticking with that whole acting thing, Chris.
Pine is starring in “The Finest Hours” which opens in theaters this Friday.
