Chris Hardwick to Host New NBC Game Show

NBC is developing a new game show, and they’ve tapped @midnight host Chris Hardwick to host and executive produce.

It’s called The Wall. Two person teams will compete and it will take brains and luck to win.

The brains come in to the picture via trivia questions, and “The Wall” will bring in the luck element. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a giant board resembling the Plinko board from Price is Right will determine how much cash contestants can win, and reportedly those amounts can be “life changing.”

Lebron James Springhill Entertainment is on board as well, and he says he’s excited because there’s nothing on tv like it. “I believe Chris Hardwick brings all of that together in a really entertaining way that people will enjoy.”

Contestants will not be selected randomly or just based on ability to answer questions. NBC is looking for what they call “deserving competitors,” like a team that has done a good deed, or is suffering from some bad luck and could use some good luck in their lives.

“I love game shows, and partnering with LeBron James and NBC to potentially give away millions of dollars to people who deserve it is an incredible opportunity,” Hardwick said in a statement. “I’m sorry, NBC, I’m hoping to give away a lot of your money.”

“The Wall is a bit like life, it rewards people who are both smart and lucky,” said NBC Entertainment president of alternative and late night programming Paul Telegdy. “It’s a game that’s had us on the edge of our seats, and Chris Hardwick is a brilliantly witty and warm host.”
