Charlie Day Says Nobody Knew ‘Always Sunny’ Won a People’s Choice Award

Charlie Day, who plays Charlie Kelly on FXX’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was a guest on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert Tuesday night. Colbert congratulated Day on Always Sunny on winning a People’s Choice Award, but according to Charlie, nobody even notified the cast that they were nominated. Day also said FXX is so hands off as far as creativity and episodes, that the network might not even know the show is still on.
Colbert asked Day an interesting question– whether he ever worries that some of the awfulness of his character will rub off on him. Day said no, he thinks the show reflects what’s terrible about us collectively as a society. And since terrible things keep happening, they keep making terribly great episodes. The good news for the show is that horrific things like crack and gun violence don’t go away. Not such good news for the rest of us.
Always Sunny’s Season 11 is currently airing on FXX.
