Cecily Strong has to be feeling pretty good about herself right now. She’s coming off great reviews for her job hosting the White House Correspondents Dinner this past weekend and the Chicago Tribune is now reporting that Chicago’s favorite daughter Cecily is joining the cast of Melissa McCarthy’s new film, “Michelle Darnell”.

The movie is based on the character McCarthy created when she was a member of The Groundlings. “Michelle Darnell” is a high powered businesswoman who goes to jail after being convicted of insider trading. Once she’s released, she starts rebuilding her damaged reputation. The comedy was written by Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone, who’s also directing the film. It co-stars Timothy Simons (Veep) and Peter Dinklage. Falcone and McCarthy will be shooting scenes in Chicago at U.S. Cellular Field on Tuesday, May 12th and Wednesday, May 13th.

Cecily Strong will also be a part of another Melissa McCarthy project. She’s joining the cast of Paul Feig’s new “Ghostbusters” comedy which begins production this year and co-stars McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Cecily’s SNL cast mates Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. Plus, she’s landed a role in the upcoming film “The Meddler” starring Rose Byrne and Susan Sarandon.
