Cars Damaged And Fans Injured After Fox Camera Cable Falls On NASCAR Track (fan video added)

On lap 121 of Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600, a cable from Fox’s overhead flying camera suddenly fell down onto spectators and laid across the front stretch. Cars catching the cable were damaged, mainly then-leader Kyle Busch who had a gouge ripped out of the right side behind the wheel, Marcos Ambrose who had a brake line severed, and Mark Martin. The race was delayed 15 minutes as track workers collected the cable, and even tried to take the camera down. NASCAR then made the unprecedented decision to allow the team 15 minutes to repair the cars without penalty. When the race returned to green after the 30-minute delay, word came that 10 spectators were also injured, with three taken to the hospital. Kyle Busch would later drop out with a seemingly unrelated engine problem, and Kevin Harvick would take the victory.

Fox did apologize for the delay, but made sure to remind everyone the camera had no problems before.
