Bobcat Doc ‘Call Me Lucky’ Wins Chicago Critics Film Festival Audience Award

call me lucky final

Big congratulations to both Barry Crimmins and Bobcat Goldthwait for grabbing the prestigious Chicago Critics Film Festival award.  The festival announced today that the Bobcat Goldthwait documentary on the life of comic/satirist/activist Barry Crimmins won the Audience Award.

The Chicago festival is the rare invite only festival in which Chicago critics hand pick films from the festical circuit, rather than films being submitted by the filmmakers to be included. The 2015 honor was given to festival favorites Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, The Overnight, End of Tour, The Connection, Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead, Batkid Begins, People Places Things, Slow West, Unexpected, Results, Raiders, and Digging for Fire.

Despite being in the company of these heavy hitters, Goldthwait’s film was the winner at this year’s festival. Hopefully this is further proof that the heavy subject matter the film addresses will catch on with audiences.
