As exclusive reports keep coming in that Jim Harbaugh is returning to coach his alma mater Michigan (which has been a general consensus for the past three weeks), the 49ers have announced that they and Harbaugh have mutually agreed to part company. The first coaching change of Black Monday comes with a curious twist, as Harbaugh has neither resigned or been fired: basically, the last year of his five-year deal has been voided. That means if he wants to take another NFL job, he can do so without reimbursement to the Niners. But as everyone who hasn’t been living under a rock knows, Harbaugh is expected to bring his talents and Wal-Mart khakis to Ann Arbor.
