Bill Murray Thinks You Should Go To Morocco (and also Root Root Root For the Home Team)

Jimmy Kimmel is in New York City doing a week of shows at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and he kicked off the week with the late night’s greatest get, Mr. Bill Murray. Murray was in town to watch his beloved Cubs, and kick off the premiere of his new movie, Rock the Kasbah, which opens this Friday. As you might expect, Murray made a grand entrance dressed for the occasion of course. No horse this time, but his entrance and appearance were no less spectacular. Which is a long winded way of saying we have no idea what the hell he was wearing or why.
On the baseball side of things, Murray told the all-New York audience that his philosophy is that all teams should win all their home games until game seven when its time to decide “quien es mas macho.” He talked briefly about his upcoming Christmas special, dropped the bomb that he’s never watched Netflix and only once googled something, and talked at length about the Mitch Glazer penned, Sofia Coppola directed film.
In Rock the Kasbah, Murray plays a music manager who he says is based on “a lifestyle of sleaze.” More specficially, Murray said he had the opportunity to watch music promoters Bill Graham, and Ron Delsener at the peak of their careers and at the peak of their insanity. He compared the life of a music promoter to a prison guard’s life, because he said, they see the weirdest shit. Murray described Ron Delsener as “the craziest Jewish guy who is just nutty as hell and says insane things that you’d think you would go to jail for– but he doesn’t because he’s funny.”

The movie was shot in Morocco, set in Afghanistan, and Murray said he loved Morocco, and highly recommends it to everyone, even cowards. He called it “entry level Africa” or an “entry level Muslim world country.” So if you’re interested in growing your experiences but too scared to hit up Africa or a Muslim country, Bill Murray recommends you try Morocco. It’s beautiful, he said, the people are sweet and kind, and none of them knew who Bill Murray is, which must be really nice once in awhile.
