Bill Murray And His Summer Of Baseball

The year he got to star in his first movie, Bill Murray also got to play some professional baseball. Bill became a part of the Grays Harbor Loggers in Washington State. He was also filming his time with the team for the Saturday Night Live special, “Things We Did Last Summer” which was a project that Lorne Michaels did with the cast where he sent film crews with each of them to document their individual Summer activities while the show was on hiatus.
According to a piece on FoxSports.com, at the same time, director Ivan Reitman was convincing Bill to star in the Summer camp comedy, “Meatballs”. Ivan said he told Bill, “Look, if this little movie does something, you’ll have used your summer wisely. And he kept saying, “I just wanted to play baseball.” But once he was with us, he was with us to the end. Creatively, he was such a great partner, so funny. I quickly had a sense that we had something special there.”
Seems like it’s always been good time to be Bill Murray.
