A screenplay based on the book by retired Cubs catcher David Ross and Don Yaeger, “Teammate: My Journey in Baseball and a World Series for the Ages.” may have Bill Murray playing Cubs manager Joe Maddon. Maddon didn’t even know a film was in the works, but told the Chicago Sun Times, “Are you serious? That’s awesome. He’s much better looking than me. Second, it’s very flattering if that is true.”
This is great news for any baseball fan who doesn’t remember last year.
Murray, of course, is famously known for being a rabid Cubs fan, who just a year ago almost had to make a difficult decision between being honored at the Kennedy Center for his comedy career or attending Game 7 of the NLCS. A game six clinch made the difficult decision unnecessary.
