Bill Cosby Responds to Rape Accusastions With Crazy Ramble on Good Morning America

Bill Cosby sat down with ABC News reporter Linsey Davis for an interview that aired on Good Morning America this morning. Cosby arranged the interview to discuss his recent partnership with the Black Belt Community Foundation. The Foundation invited Cosby to speak to high school students about education and raise awareness about underfunded schools in Selma, Alabama, one of the State’s poorest areas. Cosby may not be the ideal choice to deliver this message. More than 40 women have publicly accused Cosby of sexual assault, with dozens of women recounting being drugged by Cosby.
Davis asked Cosby how he planned to respond to the backlash, if a young person approached him and say they’ve heard he’s done “some bad things.” “How will you answer them?” Davis asked Cosby. “If they are pressing you: ‘Are you guilty? Did you do it? Are allegations true?'”
Cosby’s bizarre response included deflection of that hypothetical.
“I’m not sure that they will come like that,” Cosby replied. “I think that many of them say, ‘Well, you’re a hypocrite. You say one thing, you say the other,’” Cosby said, diminishing what the charges are.
Cosby continued: “My point is ‘Okay, listen to me carefully. I’m telling you where the road is out. Now you want to go here, or you want to be concerned about who’s giving you the message?’”
Yet even Black Belt, the foundation that partnered with Cosby, had concerns about who was delivering the message. Alongside Cosby sat foundation president Felecia Lucky, who acknowledged that the allegations gave Black Belt pause before inviting Cosby, but they ultimately determined that the partnership would benefit the Black Belt children.
Cosby added an additional thought about the onslaught of serious allegations. “I have been in this business 52 years and I’ve never seen anything like this,” the comedian said. “And reality is the situation. And I can’t speak.”
