Big Jay Oakerson and Dan Soder’s “The Bonfire” Premieres Monday July 27

Comedy Central’s first live weekly show on SiriusXM satellite radio, The Bonfire with Big Jay Oakerson and Dan Soder premieres tonight, Monday, July 27. Tune in at 6:00pm eastern time to hear two hours of live talk about comedy, entertainment, sports and live call in from two of New York’s great stand up talents, Dan and Big Jay.
The show will air live every Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET on Comedy Central Radio, SiriusXM Channel 95 with repeats throughout the week featuring live talk about comedy, entertainment, sports, and live call-ins.
“This radio show has existed since the day Soder and I met, now we finally get a chance to share it with a live audience,” said Oakerson. Oakerson and Soder have also both recently announced that they will be filming their first Comedy Central one-hour original stand-up specials, which will debut in 2016.
Comedy Central is describing the show as a place where “listeners and friends come and hang out by the radio bonfire” but fans of the comedians already know what to expect, and it probably won’t be a campfire. Both Dan and Big Jay have been regulars on SiriusXM’s Bennington Show (previously the Ron and Fez Show) and the Opie Show with Jim Norton. Oakerson co-hosts the popular Legion of Skanks podcast on the Anthony Cumia Network, as well as SDR Show, and Soder appears on YKWD! podcast regularly. And Soder and Oakerson have teamed up before on SiriusXM. In 2014 The Dan Soder Show had a six-week run with Soder and Oakerson playing clips of their favorite comedy friends, and running a talk show format.
Philadelphia born and raised Big Jay has risen the ranks of New York City comedy to become truly one of the best at the art crowd work and storytelling. Dubbed recently by The New York Times as a “Master of the Dirty Joke,” his recently released album, “The Crowd Work Sessions: What’s Your F@!?ng Deal?” was recorded live at The Stand Comedy Club in New York City. Oakerson has appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the hit IFC show Z-Rock, BET’s Comic View, HBO’s P. Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy, and a long list of Comedy Central shows including The Half Hour, This Is Not Happening, Comedy Underground with Dave Attell, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and Inside Amy Schumer.
Dan Soder, originally from Aurora, CO, started doing stand-up while attending the University of Arizona. After two years of playing clubs and casinos all over the southwest, Soder decided he’d had enough extreme heat and venomous animals, so he moved to New York. After living in New York for nine years, Soder has been featured on Comedy Central’s John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show, and The Half Hour, Inside Amy Schumer, TBS’ Conan, MTV2’s Guy Code, and you’ll see him in a recurring role on Showtime’s new series Billions in 2016.
