Bennington Show Airs First of a Series of Breakthrough Artists

SiriusXM’s Ron Bennington and Gail Bennington released the first special in a series that will focus on breaking artists in comedy, airing performances from stand up comedians who are breaking out. The first Bennington Presents Breaking Out special includes comedians at different stages in their careers, but what they have in common is they are about to hit a new level in their careers. The eighteen comedians featured in the first special are all comics who are currently New York based, but they came from all over the country before moving to New York City and represent the diversity that is the New York comedy scene. The Benningtons are planning future specials selecting comedians in NYC, nationwide and internationally; this special is just the first in a series highlighting performers taking their comedy to the next level.


Matteo Lane (@matteolane) Originally from Chicago, first off Matteo wants you to know that he’s gay, (and single!). Lane is a renaissance man with talents that go far beyond comedy, Matteo is all theater, and before starting stand-up, Matteo Lane worked in Italy as an oil painter and opera singer and he can illustrate his ass off. Now you can see him on MTV’s “Girl Code” and “Guy Code. He also made his debut on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore”.

Liza Treyger (@glittercheese) Also coming up in Chicago comedy, Liza Treyger is known for her badass, take no bullshit, tell it like it is comedy. She’s appeared on “Horace and Pete”, “Late Night with Seth Meyers”, and Comedy Central’s “Half Hour”.

Tim Dillon (@timjdillon) New York based comedian and writer Tim Dillon made a big mark winning New York’s Funniest at The New York Comedy Festival. He was the talk of Montreal after his Just for Laughs “New Faces” set this year, has performed on “Gotham Comedy Live”, and the comedian most often named in our year end survey of comedians choosing who will break out big in 2017.

Neko White (@Neko_White93) Originally from Harlem, Neko White has stolen the show on MTV2’s “Hip Hop Hollywood Squares”, Elite Daily’s “Gen Why Show”, and “Gotham Comedy Live”. He was one of Just for Laugh’s New Faces picks this year, and has a big future.

Jared Freid (@JTrain56) New York based comedian, Jared Freid has appeared on “Gotham Comedy Live” and was featured on truTV’s “NFL Full Contact” and MTV’s “Failosophy”. He was featured in New York’s Funniest at Carolines during The New York Comedy Festival, you can also catch him hosting the popular “The Jtrain Podcast”.

Liz Miele (@lizmiele) Originally from New Jersey, Liz Miele is one of the funniest women out there right now. She’s appeared on “Gotham Comedy Live”, Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham”, and Hulu’s “Coming to the Stage” and had a sold out run at Edinburgh this year.

Seaton Smith (@SeatonSmith) Originally from California, Seaton Smith has starred on Fox’s Mulaney as Motif and was a regular on Comedy Central’s “Nightly Show”. Also, he has appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers”, “Inside Amy Schumer”, HBO’s “Girls”, and Hulu’s “Difficult People” and is one of the strongest voices on the stand up stage today.

Aparna Nancherla (@aparnapkin) Originally from D.C., Aparna Nancherla was named by Variety as one of the “Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2016”. She is a comedian’s favorite and everyone wants to work with her. You can see her in Judd Apatow’s “Love” on Netflix and she also appeared on “Inside Amy Schumer”.

Emma Willmann (@emmawillmann) Known as one of New York’s fastest risers, Emma Willmann has her own show on SiriusXM called “The Check Spot”. She’s headlined her own show at New York Comedy Festival and also appeared on Fuse and “Late Night with Stephen Colbert”. Emma is such an original voice and personality, and is definitely ready to break through to the next level.

Nimesh Patel (@FindingNimesh) New York based comedian Nimesh Patel has had a great year. He wrote for the 2016 Oscars with Chris Rock and got a show picked up on Kevin Hart’s new streaming service at Montreal’s Just for Laughs comedy festival. He was also featured at Carolines New York’s Funniest this past fall.

Stavros Halkias (@stavcomedy) Known for having the best nudes on Instagram, Stavros Halkias worked with Tom Papa and is Robert Kelly’s opener and riding partner. In 2012, he was named Comedian of the Year in Baltimore, and he is definitely ready to break bigger in 2017.

Amy Miller (@amymiller) Originally from Oakland, Amy Miller moved to Portland and won Portland’s Funniest Comedian in Helium’s Comedy Club contest. She was also a breakout favorite in Season 9 of “Last Comic Standing.” She’s got a brand new debut album out, and you can count on Miller’s voice to get even stronger in 2017.

Leonard Ouzts. One of comedy’s rising stars, Leonard Ouzts was named a “New Face” at Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival. He also appeared on TBS’ “Conan” and Adam Devine’s “House Party on Comedy Central” and he is one of the funniest people performing in New York clubs right now. It’s just a matter of time before Ouzts is a comedy star.

Phoebe Robinson (@dopequeenpheebs) New York City based comedian Phoebe Robinson has had an amazing year. Her book “You Can’t Touch My Hair and Other Things I Still Have To Explain”, was a New York Times best seller. She’s the creator and co-star of the podcast “2 Dope Girls”. She’s also appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers”, “Last Call with Carson Daly”, TBS’ “Conan”, Comedy Central’s “Broad City”, and “@midnight with Chris Hardwick” and she is a favorite at festivals all over the country.

Anthony DeVito (@anthonydevito_) A New Jersey native currently living in Queens, Anthony DeVito has already made a name for himself in the comedy scene. He’s appeared on Comedy Central’s “Adam Devine’s House Party” and is one of the hosts of the hit “Rad Dudecast”. He also made his debut on “Gotham Comedy Live” and was winner of Carolines Comedy Madness. Everyone loves him, we love him, and we can’t wait for more people to know about him.

Vlad Caamaño (@laughingvlaad) Originally from the Bronx, Vlad Caamaño has been featured on “Gotham Comedy Live” and “Adam Devine’s House Party” on Comedy Central. He was honored at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and Variety named him one of “The Top Ten Comics To Watch”. He also entered into a put pilot development deal with NBC to co-write and star in a pilot based on his comedy, and audiences all over New York love him.

Greg Stone (@gregstone_) If you’re the betting type, put your money on Greg Stone to have a big future. Greg Stone has appeared on “America’s Got Talent”, “Gotham Comedy Live”, and is one of the hosts of “The Rad Dudecast” and he has been featured as one of New York’s Funniest by Carolines in New York, and he’s absolutely ready for a big jump in his career.

Monroe Martin (@MonroeMartinIII) After creating a buzz in the New York comedy circuit, Monroe Martin has appeared on “Last Comic Standing”, “The Artie Lange Show”, “Adam Devine’s House Party” on Comedy Central, and “Gotham Comedy Live”. He’s a unique voice, and he’s funny as fuck.
