Barack Obama To Appear On WTF with Marc Maron

Marc Maron and Obama

With over 600 episodes of his bi-weekly podcast, WTF, Marc Maron has interviewed hundreds of comedians and other entertainers from the confines of his garage. Now, he’ll be talking to POTUS from that same garage.

Maron announced today that, if all goes according to plan, he will interview President Barack Obama in his garage on Friday. Obama is set to come to LA for Democratic Party fundraisers.

The comedian revealed that the Secret Service has already been setting up his house and securing his block in preparation for Obama’s arrival on Friday.

“My street is going to be incredibly safe for the next few days,” Maron joked.

Maron used to identify as a political comedian, hosting a radio show at Air America, the now-defunct liberal radio network. Air America studios are where Maron would sneak in to record the first episodes of WTF.

Despite his political past, Maron does not want the interview to be framed like an agenda-driven conversation.

“I want to do a WTF interview,” Maron said. He wants to focus on the President’s journey, calling Obama “an incredibly brilliant and interesting man, with a life that I’m going to talk to him about.”

Maron admitted to some some last-minute nerves. “Oh my God, I hope my bathroom’s clean. I should probably clean my house a little. Prep the cats somehow.”

Maron and Obama’s one-hour conversation will be posted on June 22.
