Aziz Ansari and Dad Brings Less Whiteness to Late Night, Briefly

Screen Shot 2015-11-11 at 7.56.07 AM

Aziz Ansari made his first appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert Tuesday night, bringing the percentage of white men on your screen down to 50% briefly, and then the percentage of white people on the screen went even lower, when Aziz’s dad came out and join them. If you’ve been watching Ansari’s new series Master of None on Netflix, you’ll understand why Colbert would bring up how white he is, and if you’re not watching, you should be. It’s a great show.

Later  Ansari explained the title of his show, Master of None, as fitting the show because it’s about a guy who is a developed adult but he’s still learning about life. Well really, he said, it’s so hard to come up with a title, and that one sounded good. The entire series is now available on Netflix and he recommends going to binge route. Aziz’s parents play his parents in the show. He said he cast his mom and dad after auditioning a number of actors and not feeling like any of them were right for the part.

There were no clips of later in the show with Mr. Ansari released.  Maybe someone got nervous about the white guy percentage going too low. But you can see Aziz’s entire appearance on CBS.com.
