Maya Angelou (1928-2014)

Maya Angelou, a writer, poet, playwright, composer, director, actor, teacher, human rights activist and human being of the highest order, passed away today at her home in North Carolina. She was 86.

The Blame Remains the Same!?

The Led Zeppelin - and the Classic Rock Universe - was jolted by a news of a recent lawsuit filed by representatives of the band Spirit claiming that the intro to the Zeppelin classic 'Stairway To Heaven' was lifted from the song 'Taurus', which appeared on the Spirit self-titled 1968 debut album. Spirit guitarist Randy California - who passed away in 1997 - always contended that Zep ripped off the intro, noting that the two groups toured together during Zeppelin's formative years.

Pete Seeger (1919-2014)

Pete Seeger, a singer, songwriter and political activist of the highest order, passed away late Monday night of natural causes. He was 94. An outstanding musician, songwriter, teacher and advocate, the life of Pete Seeger is best summarized by the words that were written on his banjo: 'This Machine Surrounds Hate And Forces It To Surrender'.
