Asian Comedy Fest Names Top Ten Finalists


Following its sold-out run in 2020, the Asian Comedy Fest in partnership with Rizzle,, the short form video series platform, is exicited to announce the TOP TEN 2021 Asian Comedy Fest Finalists. Each finalist’s work will be screened at the festival, and winners will be announced as part of a special awards ceremony during the virtual premiere on Thursday, May 27th 2021, which will feature some of the nation’s hottest Asian comedians. In addition to the contest finalists’ videos, the premiere will include stand-up comedy from a live taping taking place earlier this month, with performances by Fumi Abe and Mic Nguyen (Asian Not Asian podcast), Michael Cruz Kayne (Late Night with Seth Meyers), Bryan Yang (Standup NBC showcase semi-finalist) , Usama Siddiquee (America’s Got Talent), Fareeha Khan (Reductress), Youngmi Mayer (Feeling Asian podcast), Dylan Adler (featured in NY Times) , Pranav Behari (Mango Bae podcast), Jes Tom (Netflix) , Otter Lee (Stephen Colbert Presents: Tooning Out the News) and a special appearance by Ronny Chieng.
ACF is also holding a virtual panel featuring top AAPI industry professionals to discuss the unique challenges of working in Hollywood on May 23rd, 2021. Panelists include: Mike Cabellon (Mr. Mayor), Rekha Shankar (Animaniacs), Alex Song-Xia (Rick & Morty), Nik Dodani (Dear Evan Hansen) Sachi Ezura (VP of Adult Animation, ViacomCBS), Mark Kramer (Last Week Tonight), and will be moderated by Otter Lee (Stephen Colbert Presents: Tooning Out The News). Proceeds from the festival events will be donated to Apex for Youth, dedicated to creating possibilities for underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC, including activism in response to the increase in anti-Asian attacks.
