Aretha Franklin Bans New Sydney Pollack Doc “Amazing Grace” From Screening
A judge ruled in favor of Aretha Franklin, who filed suit to block the premiere of the documentary, “Amazing Grace.” The Sydney Pollack-directed doc focuses on Franklin’s acclaimed 1972 live album and uses never-before-seen footage of Franklin singing in an L.A. church. Franklin testified that she never gave the producers permission and was granted an injunction. All Aretha’s asking is for a little respect, just a little bit.
