He’s won an Emmy, so let’s see how good he is at hosting the Emmys. Andy Samberg will be your emcee for the 67th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 20th. The Emmy awards will be broadcast on FOX this year, the home to Andy Samberg’s sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”.

The chairman and CEO of the Television Academy Bruce Rosenblum said Andy has all the qualities they look for in a host. “It’s wonderfully fitting that we have Andy Samberg, an Emmy Award winner himself, as our host for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. Andy has excelled in all aspects of the television universe, both from behind and in front of the camera. His humor, insights and charisma will be an exciting addition to our annual celebration of television’s best and brightest.”

Andy Samberg encouraged safety going into this year’s awards ceremony. He said, “Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers! Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car. In fact, even if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I’m hosting, and it’s gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seat belts.”

Andy Samberg won an Emmy in 2007 for Best Original Music and Lyrics for Saturday Night Live’s “Dick In A Box” along with Justin Timberlake and The Lonely Island co-members Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone.

The 67th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be Sunday, September 20th at 8pm et on FOX. Nominations will be announced in the morning on Thursday, July 16th.
