Adam Sandler Breaks Netflix Views Record in Under 30 Days

Now do you believe the power of Sandler?

The Ridiculous 6, a movie that may not be on your personal radar, has now been watched on Netflix more than any other Netflix movie and it only took 30 days to break that record. It’s beating out every original and every licensed film that Netflix has ever run.

The news was announced at CES 2016 by Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. He said, “The Ridiculous Six, by way of example, in the first 30 days on Netflix– it’s been the most-watched movie in the history of Netflix,” he said. “It’s also enjoyed a spot at No. 1 in every territory we operate in, and in many of them it’s still No. 1.”

This comes despite its 0%, yes ZERO percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, almost universal hatred from critics, and allegations of racism during filming that led to offended Native Americans walking off set. The Ridiculous 6 is part of an unprecedented exclusive four film deal between Sandler and Netflix.

Netflix also reported that we collectively watched 42.5 billion hours through Netflix in 2015. In the last three months of the year, users streamed 12 billion hours alone.

He is not the film maker we deserve, but he’s the one that we need right now. No, you should probably reverse that.
