Aasif Mandvi Will Debut Halal in the Family April 9

Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandvi appeared on Letterman’s Late Show last night. After pointing out what an awful place Tampa Florida is, he talked about his new websitcom, “Halal in the House” which is a parody about an all American Muslim family, who want to be as American as they can be.

The idea behind “Halal in the Family” is to address some of the bigotry, racism and Islamophobia in America through comedy. And also to fulfill Aasif’s childhood fantasy of being like the Fonz. So if you don’t have any Muslim friends, now you have one– Aasif Mandvi.

Mandvi had taken to Indiegogo to crowdfund to create the series and raised more than $37,000.

The new webseries debuts on Funny or Die on April 9th.
