A Street Named After The Beastie Boys?

beastie boysA campaign is underway to have Rivington and Ludlow on New York’s Lower East Side renamed ‘Beastie Boys Square’. The corner was immortalized on their 1989 album ‘Paul’s Boutique’ but the site is more in the spirit of their debut album ‘License To Ill’. Locals call it ‘Hell Square’ because of the high number of bars and its very loud patrons. Organizers are scheduled to present the plan at the next community board meeting on January 14th. A park honoring the late Adam Yauch opened in Brooklyn last year.
