Brandon Phillips Calls His $72.5 Million Deal “A Slap In The Face”

San Francisco Giants v Cincinnati RedsLast year, Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips signed a $72.5 million deal with the team. Now he says that deal was a “slap in the face” compared to the 10-years, $225 million the Reds gave his teammate Joey Votto the same year. He added “I’m still scarred. It just sucks that it happened”.  When reporters asked if he stood by his comment, Phillips said “What did I say wrong? Please tell me, what did I say wrong? I want to know what I said wrong. Please tell me. I want everyone to tell me exactly (what) did I say that was so wrong?” Reds fans agreed and wished they could be slapped around like that too.
