Urlacher Retires
One of the best middle linebackers in Chicago Bears history has called it quits. Brian Urlacher made the announcement via a statement posted to his Twitter account. Urlacher is a one-of-a-kind player in the modern era. He entered the NFL as the ninth pick in the 2000 draft. Pundits questioned whether he could make it in the NFL, mainly because they didn’t know what position he would play on the field. He turned out to be a beloved Chicago Bear, an eight-time Pro Bowler and a four-time All-Pro. He made it to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman as his quarterback and he was the backbone of venerable Bears defenses that made the Monsters of the Midway a perennial playoff team.
