NFL Reviewing Rules

BRADY WOODSON BIEKERTAs they do every offseason the NFL is reviewing possible rule changes for the 2013 NFL season. These possible changes include:

  • Referees will be able to review incomplete passes through the recovery and the fumble, meaning that incomplete pass calls can now be overturned
  • The long snapper will be considered a defenseless player on field-goal formations. He can no longer be hit illegally
  • Runners who hit with the crowns of their helmets outside of the tackle box will be given personal fouls.
  • Offensive blockers won’t be able to block low inside the tackle box if they’re moving toward their own goal lines. And they won’t be able to go low on peel-back blocks
  • Tight ends will have the option to wear numbers 40-49.
  • The “Schwartz rule” – an inappropriately thrown challenge flag will not doom a team.

Goodbye tuck rule.
