Who is Hosting Saturday Night Live Tonight: January 15, 2022
Dedicated to the brilliant and beautiful Ernie Tripper
Saturday Night Live is back live tonight and who is excited to see Willem Dafoe hosting? The Northeast is blanketed in snow but who cares because tonight is a not-to-miss episode of Saturday Night Live and tomorrow is the last game of this season of the NFL before the Super Bowl. Willem is crazy in the best way and if the writers can’t figure out how to turn that into a killer episode, then I don’t know what to tell you. He’s so committed and ready to go that he showed up a week early and tried to push out Will Forte during his monologue last week.
For those new to the planet, Dafoe is an award winning actor, he’s controversial, he’s bizarre, and he’s worked with some of our greatest artists, like Abel Ferrara, Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders, Lars von Trier, Sean Baker, Wes Anderson and Julian Schnabel, Oliver Stone. Streets of Fire, Platoon, Heaven’s Gate, Mississippi Burning, The Last Temptation of Christ, Grand Budapest Hotel, The Florida Project, The Boondock Saints, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Miral, 4:44 The Last Day on Earth, The Aviator and The French Dispatch are just a few of the projects in his long and very prolific career. He appears in every type of movie from blockbuster hits to small independent movies, and can helm a film or play a movie stealing walk on. Even you kids know him from his frequent visits to the Marvel Universe, as Norman Osborn-Green Goblin in the Spider Man series, and Nuidis Vulko in Aquaman and Justice League.
Expect all of his talents to be put to use tonight.
There’s a lot of crazy news for SNL to cover this week.
Will the cold open focus on Biden’s trip to Pittsburgh? Or will the show open with a Neil Young/Barry Manilow/Joe Rogan spotify sketch. How will the show handle Kanye spreading rumors about Pete Davidson’s sexual health? Is Kenan warming up his Big Papi Ortiz Weekend Update character? Will Weekend Update touch the suicide of Charlie Brown? Amy Schneider on Jeopardy? The pope finally saying its okay to love your gay children? Will McDonalds new hack menu get covered or will Che and Jost make fun of Little Caesars disgusting new batman calzone abomination? How about Minnie Mouse retiring her famous dress? Will Larry David address the RFK Cheryl Hines scandel?
All of this and more will be answered at 11:30pm on NBC, also streaming on Peacock. Willem Dafoe is hosting, and Katie Perry is the musical guest.
