Saturday Night Live is not live tonight. It’s one of those annoying weeks off where the cast and staff of Saturday Night Live get to take a little breather, celebrate Thanksgiving with their families, and recharge for the next live show.
But good news, tonight’s repeat episode is a great one. In this repeat episode from earlier this season, Kim Kardashian did a terrific job hosting and there were great sketches. Plus you can watch on slo-mo and try to figure out the exact moment Kim Kardashian took interest in dating Pete Davidson.
The decision to put Kim K in the host spot was incredibly controversial. Nobody thought she could be funny, and assumed she was too much of a primadonna to be self deprecating. But she crushed the monologue with really funny jokes, roasting her relationships, her image, and her family ties to OJ Simpson. In fact her OJ joke generated the most controversy, with Nicole Simpson Brown’s family feeling its still too soon make jokes about their mother’s murder.
Kardashian is world famous media personality, influencer, businesswoman, and reality television super star. Her early notoriety came from palling around with Paris Hilton, before a 2007 sex tape leak drove more attention in her direction. Soon after that Keeping Up with the Kardashians made her a super celebrity and she’s taken that fame into the social media and business world with a wide variety of products branded around her image. In 2014 she married Kanye West and had four children with him before filing for divorce earlier this year. And while she exemplifies the idea of being famous for being famous, you can’t deny that she’s parlayed that fame into an empire.
Some of the highlights from the episode include a parody of dating shows starring Kim Kardashian looking for her dream guy, a People’s Kourt sketch, and an Aladdin Parody featuring a magic carpet ride between Jasmine (Kim) and Aladdin (Pete Davidson),

In her original promo, Kim says hosting the show is EASY– she doesn’t have to write the sketches, or memorize lines, and as long as nobody else will look as good as her, she says “this is easy.”
