Saturday Night Live brings an all new all live episode this week. For episode four of season 47, Lorne is bringing in a pro. Jason Sudeikis will be hosting the show that made him a star. Even though Sudeikis has a long history with the show, this is his very first time hosting, much like the three celebrities who preceded him as host this month. Brandi Carlisle joins him as this week’s musical guest.
Sudeikis has been a comedy star for two decades now but 2021 took him to a new level of superstardom after his hit Apple TV + series Ted Lasso took the world, and awards shows by storm with four primetime Emmy nominations wins at the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild awards as well.
His Saturday Night Live career began in 2003 as a writer with occasional on screen appearances and evolved into a long run as a prime time cast member from 2006 to 2013. While with the show, Jason had a long list of recurring characters, including playing two Presidents. half of the “Two A-Holes” sketch with Kristin Wiig, Weekend Update characters like Jon Bovi, lead singer of the Bon Jovi opposite band, and the Devil, and he also played the unforgettable super hype background dancer from the What’s Up With That recurring sketch.
In an all new promo, Jason rejects a “bread Lasso” sketch suggestion, considers “Shed Lasso” and does some Lasso-like positive affirmations. Hopefully the entire 90 minute episode won’t be focused on just Lasso puns. Of course it doesn’t take a crystal ball to expect some Lasso-influenced segments- and maybe a Lasso inspirational monologue. Other predictions for content this week= maybe we’ll see an offensive math teacher stereotyping Native Americans? Some definite shots at Biden’s awful week, commentary on the bizarre conclusion to the search for Brian Laundrie, hopefully an Aidy Bryant impression of Nevada’s new gubernatorial candidate, and hopefully Abraham Lincoln-Giuliani on weekend update.
